Biyahe to Baguio City
Nose & ear Bleeds, getting lost (multiple times), over-crowdedness & amazing sights.
Our plan, well, Tita Fe’s plan was to leave by 4 in the morning. Well…it didnt end up that way. My sister and I woke up early because…we were supposed to leave by 4. Sigh, it was like, “Girls, are you ready?” We were just idling. Tita didnt wake up until maybe, 530. During our whole stay in the Philippines, we got used to the fact that Tita Fe runs a little late. More like 2 hours late. But its okay, it was all good to her so it would be all good for us. The only reason why we planned on leaving early was because it would be a 5 hour drive to Baguio. The sooner we got there, the better right? I think we left by 7. Soo, it wasn’t that bad. It was the 6 of us- Me, sissy, Jennica (cousin!), Tita Fe, Tito Erick and Tito Yonie (driver). Tito Yonie had a hard time understanding our english. If he didn’t know what we were saying he would just answer, “How about you?” I don’t know. He’s weird. And plus he was like “Why can’t you guys just talk in tagalog? So that I won’t have hard time. SHETTTTT! Ay jusko!” We wouldn’t fit in the back seat, so Tito Erick had Tita Fe in his lap the whole drive there and back. I think she enjoyed it. Haha!

Seating chart for Baguio City. Tito Yonie, Tito Eric and Tita Fe.

Baguio here we come! Baguio is in the northern part of Luzon, soo very far away.

We needed it!

SM City- Rosales
I think we were an hour into the trip.

Rosales, Pangasinan

7-11 in Rosales

Breakfast Time!
I think it was about 830 or close to 9 when we got to eat. It felt weird because it felt like the middle of the day already.
First time eating ChowKing again in 10 years. Nothing special. Bleh.

My congee. It was pretty tasty. I guess it was because I was hungry.

Tita and Tito Erick ordered the same thing. Fried Rice with shumai- I think.

Kankong (my favorite ever!) with Bagoong.

Sister and Jennica

Jas and Jennica ordered the same thing. Orange Chicken. Do you see that? There is NO meat in that chicken. OMG. It was just crispy chicken skin or something. And the sauce? Yeah, not even orangey chickeny flavor. It was like sweet and sour sauce.

Tito Yonie’s Longanisa and egg. You see his shirt? Mommy got mad at us because Tita Fe just gave it to Tito Erick and him. NOT even one to Tito Tony, our real uncle. I mean, Tito Erick really isnt our uncle. Hes just Tita Fe’s “sweet.” We didnt know that she wasnt going to give Tito Tony. If we have known beforehand, we wouldve just distributed the shirts ourselves. Sigh. Sorry Tito Tony.

Yay Baguio!

City of Rosales

So many trikes!

Huge Parol! Cool huh?

Poor baby. She’s sleeping.

I know you cant see it, but it says “Welcome to Benguet Province” and this means we are that much closer to Baguio City! Yehey!

Baguio is about 5100 ft above sea level. Its nestled in the mountains! Right now we are at the bottom

Here we go! In order to get into Baguio City we took Kennon Road, with only one road going up and one road going down. This is supposedly the fastest way to get to Baguio City, it didnt seem like it though. There are a lot of switch backs and sometimes you feel like you’re too close to the side of the mountain. But it was worth it. If you’re the driver-sucks to be you. Why? Because you cant really take in everything around you.
This is the Bued River that flows through Kennon Road.

This was so cool. There would be mini waterfalls coming off of the canyon! Tito Yonie drove real close to the side so that Tita Fe would get wet. Too bad she didnt though. Hahah!

I absolutely love this picture. We were still at the bottom of Kennon road. I couldnt take pictures that much because I sat in between of Jen and Jas. Jas shot this. Those houses are on the mountain and you can see their long, skinny, but I guess sturdy bridge to get to the road. Its kind of scary though. But they have their own fresh water supply!

More awesome waterfalls!

You see that tan/brown open spot? A landslide occured there. Baguio is prone to landslides. It sucks because there are so many houses nestled against the mountainside and if their house isnt sturdy enough, it’ll all go away.

So beautiful.

Waterfall in the distance.

Boracay Rum is really popular. Never got to try it though.

Nice house huh? I wouldn’t mind living in there.

Almost, almost.

Mini waterfall

Another one

Huge landslide area

Valley underneath a landslide prone area.

Carved mountainsides :(

This is a famous landmark. The Lion’s Head. Tita Fe said that they had just painted it! Before it was brown or black? Lucky for us it was all nice! You cannot not go to Baguio City without taking a picture here. Unfortunately this group isnt us. Hahah.

This is the view from Kennon Road stop. You can see Kennon road’s twists and turns! In the distance, you can see the yellow mane of the Lion’s Head.

Other side

A more better view

I forgot what kind of tooth this was. Or was it a tooth? I forgot.

Strawberry keychains!

Birdhouse

Pau. Outside the gift shoppe.

Out of all the tourist spots listed, we hit up 5. I wish we got to see more.

WE ARE FINALLY IN! I know its such a crap photo! But we are finally in Baguio City! Yess! I think we got there around 1230. The thing is, we needed to look for Teachers’ Camp so we can unload and recharge. We took forever. We went around in circles because we either missed a turn or it was too traffic and Tita or Tito Erick would say like “Oh, try taking another route..” But it didn’t matter because we were lost. There was this saying that Tito Yonie and Tito Erick said. I cant remember how it went but it was something like being smart when you ask questions. Or, you are smart when you are asking someone a question. But in reality, you are dumb… Because you ask questions. Something like that. Anyway, Tito Yonie would call guys “Papa” like “Uyyy, Papa” it was funny because he would act girly. Eek. But yeah, it took us a while to find Teachers’ Camp.

Finally!

This is it. We have 3 bedrooms. One for Tita and Tito Erick, one for me, Jas and Jen and then the last one is Tito Yonie’s.
We ate lunch here. Well, not really a lunch. More like bread and coconut jam. Inang and mommy loves coconut jam. And so does Tita Fe. Haha, Jen and I were laughing to ourselves because we figured out that she doesnt like it either. Tito Yonie was like, “Ano ka ba? Coconut Jam? Eww, yackk.” Tita was like, “Come on, try now.” Its not bad, its just that its too sweet. She ate a lot. We packed on the jam on the bread because we didnt want to eat it!

This is the kitchen. They provided you with utensils! The sign in the cabinet says to conserve water, which is the most important thing. We were on the bottom of the house and there was a family with a kid on the top floor. The kid would always run! And you could hear someone closing the door on the top floor too!

This is our room. I didnt get to take a picture of the view. It was nice. Pine trees everywhere. It was real nice. The beds werent though. I dont know if it was just me but I felt that the bed was damp. I guess it was because of the weather. But I tried real hard not to use the blankets.

First visitor stop: Mines View Park
I thought that once we were in higher elevation it would be colder. It wasn’t! I was dripping in sweat. My sister wasn’t or my cousin.

Top of the park

Tourist Attraction! Big doggy!

:( Tired from working

Awesome

Tita Fe and Tito Yonie and Baguio City

I wish the girl wasnt in the frame.

A little better

A little more better

Yay! Baguio City! We took pictures in Igorot costumes with two old ladies. :(

FREAKING frogs.

I bought ‘Everlasting Flowers’ from the old lady. I wanted to give one to Inang and bring one home. But I just ruined it because I didnt take it out of the bag and it got all moldy. :( Next time, next time.

If mommy was with us, she would’ve bought all these plants.

This corn looked so yummy. But it was too freaking hot to eat. It wasnt expensive either! Boo :(

Smokin hot!

You know, Tito Yonie was missing a front tooth. And he decided to eat corn. Ugh.

This is a nice kids shirt!

This keychain was expensive. But still nice.

Dream catchers!

The next stop: The Good Shepard.
Tita Fe is all about The Good Shepard. They help fund kids through school. They are famous for their Ube Jam and Strawberry Jam. I didnt get to buy the Ube Jam because it would spoil in 2 weeks. But I did get daddy strawberry jam, peanut brittle and strawberry sesame candy.

All their goodies!

Ube jam!

Jeepney

Passing by: Wright Park
There were so many ponies/horses to ride! So cute! I felt bad for them because they must’ve been bored just standing there. And plus it was drizzling too. There wasnt a lot of people riding the horses.

MB Jeepney

School was out so there was so much traffic going through the city. I would’ve loved cotton candy from this lady. I would beg my mom to get me a treat like that!

After getting lost through the city we finally found our way to the Strawberry Fields. The strawberry wasn’t in season. Thats why they were junk. I paid I think 350 pesos for a kilo of strawberries. Actually, I think it was 400 pesos. Jas was disappointed.
These are the Strawberry Fields in Baguio City.

Tita and Tito E in the distance. Fog came rolling in! Then it began to get cold!

Eep! The Fog!

More Fog!

More more Fog!

After the Strawberry Fields, we decided to head over to Burnham Park. The two guys had to park Tita’s Truck. During that time Tito Jimmy called us and asked what we were doing. He told us to go on the boat ride.

Different boats

Hahah, the Fog also came rolling in here too. It was pretty chilly.

Spongebob in the fog!

Hmm, Little Mermaid Boat Ride eh?

Yes, the Little Mermaid.

For the 6 of us it was only 100 pesos. Cheap huh? We can have it all day if we wanted!

The sucky part was that instead of fog, we got rain. It was not cool. Tita was sitting on the back of the boat so she was getting wet. And it took Tito Yonie a while to learn which way was the right way to turn so Tita was getting dizzy. Once Tito Yonie got the hang of it, we..actually Tita decided it was time to go. It was not even 20 minutes!
Tito Yonie or Tito Erick bought us Lychee to snack on. It was so so so so so so yummy! And cheap! It was only 100 pesos for 1 kilo!!! So so so so awesome!
Since it was cold and damp and stuff we needed to find shelter. We huddled by a table that was occupied by a family and then Tito E and Y decided to get and park the car closer.
Tita was hungry. Actually I was really thirsty. We headed to the restaurant across the street and Tita ordered us Bulalo. So yummy.

The string beans were so crisp. The only thing it was salty. But this soup was so good because we were wet!
During the merienda we were talking about what we were going to have for dinner. Tita wanted to go to the palenke and buy veggies and such but it was raining so she didnt want to deal with it. She wanted to buy the rotisserie chicken for dinner but then…decided not to. So (thankfully) Tito E convinced Tita Fe to just shop at SM Supermarket for groceries and then we’ll have some take-out for dinner. Me and my sister was like YES! SM! Finally! After 10 years we get to go to SM again! I was excited! Finally! Shopping! Hahah. Didnt end up that way though.
The way to SM was tough. No joke. We got lost. Tita Fe’s Nissan Navara doesnt do well with heights. And Tito Y was not so thrilled about heights after what happened either. There was traffic everywhere so Tito Y was trying to find different routes to get to SM. Didnt work out so well though. We took this one road and it was uphill.
Bad idea. Tita Fe’s car couldn’t go uphill. So we got stuck. In the middle of the street. Everyone staring at our car because we were blocking the way. Jas, Jen and I were just laughing our butts off because Tito Y was having such a hard time starting the car back up. He didn’t want us to laugh. People were just staring. I swear, we stayed there for what felt like the longest time in the world. Sometimes its bad to have stick shifts. But it was hilarious. Tito Y was like, “Sheeeeeet, grabe. Ayoko na. SHETTTTT.” He was upset because the three of us just kept laughing. Good times.

SM City- Baguio!!!

Yes, their Department Store!

Cute shoes

Barong

Whattt? Brownies Unli?!
The things that we needed to get was WATER, shampoo and conditioner, soap, paper towels and JUNK FOOD.

So much bread choices.

Mmm, so yummy.

Yogurt in squeezy containers.

Soda and beer!

SO MUCH KITKAT!

Gummies!

Just like pillows!

Favorite snack ever!

Ahhhhh, more good food.

Oreos

Bubble Bottle
I think we spent about 15 dollars at the supermarket. We bought things to munch on and the one thing that we talked about on getting was Eggs for breakfast the next day. We didnt get eggs. Oh well.

Kankanin!

Starbackks packed with so much people.

It was drizzling so people were just standing in front of the entrance. GRR!

Ah, love this. Little kid, you can strain your neck! This is a princess cake from Goldilocks. I was trying to look around the little boy to see how much it was, but there was no price. And plus I couldnt look close up because he was too mesmerized.

We decided to have KFC for dinner. It came to 800 pesos. Jerm would’ve loved the double down. SO MUCH CHEAPER! But eek! Looks too…yack.
\
We got the Transfomers Bucket Meal!

We had to go back inside of the mall because TIta Fe had to get something. So the 4 of us just waited for Tita Fe and Tito E.
I asked Jas for 60 pesos. She wasnt too thrilled about it.
I am such a little kid.

HEE HE HEEE!
It was kind of expensive for 60 pesos.

Oh well! :D
Im pretty sure we didnt leave SM until 830. And by then everyone was crabby. And hungry.
It didnt help that WE GOT LOST going back to Teachers’ Camp. Tita Fe was sooo IRKED.

Passing by the palenke.

More palenke
Im pretty sure we didn’t get back to Teachers’ Camp 30 minutes later.

Dinner Time! Cutely packed rice! Tita ordered extra rice.

Gross mac salad and mashed potpots.

I was so hungry so I decided to get myself a Chik’n Fillet, I think ~60 pesos.

Dinner set up
We all felt gross and dirty so we all took showers. It was FREEZING! The water flow was great though. The only bad part was that people could see into our bathroom.

First sakto packets of shampoo and conditioner. I think it was a pack of 5 for 50 cents. Not bad eh?
Tito E was trying to scare Tito Y about Teachers’ Camp being haunted. It was kind of hard not to think that it wasn’t. So I am not gonna lie, I was a bit paranoid. I was the last to fall asleep and I didn’t close our door completely because yeah..BOO!
In the morning I fried longanisa, hot dog and dried squid. Tito E cooked rice. And we had lychee. Lychee soooooo yummy. Esp when its cold.

As you can see the thing with the spoon inside is the coconut jam. Not nutella.

So yummy!
I dont remember when we left Teachers’ Camp. But maybe around 8 or 9. We had two more stops to make before we head back home to Cab.

We visited Lourdes Grotto which has 252 steps to the top. Not that far right?

Bottom of the grotto

Lets go!

It was so hot

View from the Top

Trekking down
Lourdes Grotto was great. You could see a whole lot of Baguio City. The only thing was, it was really hot.

Incredible Hulk!
Tito E was like,”Lets get some hot cocoa. Its the best in Baguio.” And I was thinking WHAAAAAAAAAAT? Its sooo hot and he is thinking about hot cocoa? Well whatever Tito E says, Tita Fe will just go with it.

Famous hot cocoa from Cafe By The Ruins.

I know Tita Fe was like WHAT? This much for a cup of hot cocoa?

It was like hot cocoa using the Tablea of cocoa. It was good but they used carabao milk. Tita Fe was disgusted. Jas didn’t want so I had to finish it. GR.

It would be good on a cold day, but maybe not a hot one.
Tita Fe wanted to go to the palenke because she wanted to buy veggies to bring back home but that didnt happen because it was a saturday and it was hot.
After leaving Cafe By The Ruins we just had to make one more stop.
On the way we saw this

Harry Potter! I wonder what was in that store/area place.
Our Tito Jimmy was in the Philippine Military Academy. So in honor of him, we headed down Kennon Road to the PMA.

Unfortunately, this is the only picture I can upload from PMA. It was such a nice and clean place. It was cooler and there were a lot of pine trees. My pictures are too large :( so I just have to post pictures the pictures separately. I wouldn’t mind going there again.
Texas Instruments a couple of minutes away from the PMA.
I took pictures going down Kennon Road, but they were too large as well. We were actually coasting down Kennon Road. It was pretty fast!

Wahh! Goodbye Baguio City! :(
Actually, this picture is far away from Baguio City.
We ate at a recommended restaurant from the people at the toll booth. It was pretty good. I have pictures from the lunch but yeah, the pictures are too big. Oh well, separate entry!
Overall Baguio City was great! SO much people! So MUCH KOREANS! ^-^
Hahah, too bad I didn’t find a Lee Min Ho or a BigBang member. The way that the houses are situated on the mountainside reminded me of Kahala side, but this one was more extreme because the houses are squished together and on top of one another. I would love to go there again but spend more than 2 days there. And maybe a better place to stay. You have to have a lot of patience because its just too congested in some areas. It really is a tourist spot and I can understand why. The views are amazing. Baguio really is a cool place.
